Sensory Room Opens at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New York

The New York Red Bulls have proudly unveiled an updated and enhanced sensory room at Sports Illustrated Stadium, further demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for all fans. The Altec Lansing Sensory Room, completed in partnership with the iconic speaker, headphone, and electronics brand, was thoughtfully designed with full input from KultureCity, the world’s leading nonprofit on sensory accessibility and acceptance. KultureCity has worked closely with sports teams and public venues across the country, ensuring that environments are supportive and welcoming to individuals with sensory processing needs. As the Official Audio Partner of the New York Red Bulls and Sports Illustrated Stadium, Altec Lansing has played a crucial role in the renovation. The audio electronics brand has outfitted the fully upgraded sensory room with cutting-edge noise-canceling headphones, including the Kid Safe 2-in-1 ANC and ComfortQ 2.0 models. These devices are specifically selected to help guests with sensory sensitivities enjoy a more comfortable, safe, and immersive experience while attending matches and other events held at the venue. The newly improved Altec Lansing Sensory Room officially opened to the public during a special event: New York’s Autism Acceptance match against Chicago Fire FC on April 5, 2025. The event served as the perfect opportunity to showcase the team's efforts to support fans with sensory needs. For their Autism Acceptance match, the Red Bulls made changes to their normal matchday experience to better accommodate fans on the autism spectrum, with sensory-friendly features like sensory sacks (including fidget toys and visual cue cards), lowered music volume, and an additional quiet zone on the plaza level at Sports Illustrated Stadium. In addition to these thoughtful matchday adjustments, the Red Bulls have made it easy for families and individuals to take advantage of the new sensory room. "To gain access to the Altec Lansing Sensory Room, families and fans do not need a special ticket to the games. All fans need to do is approach Fan Services at a Red Bulls match and they will assist you to reach the Altec Lansing Sensory Room on the 5th Floor." The Red Bulls were among the first teams in Major League Soccer to open a permanent sensory room, originally launching the space in 2017. Since then, they have continued to expand their efforts to be a more inclusive organization for neurodivergent individuals and families. The 2025 enhancements reflect not only a technological upgrade, but a reaffirmation of the team’s values around diversity, inclusion, and community support. Through their collaboration with Altec Lansing and KultureCity, the Red Bulls continue to lead by example in creating an accessible game day experience that prioritizes the well-being of every fan. Whether it’s your first match or your fiftieth, the Red Bulls want every guest to feel seen, supported, and safe inside Sports Illustrated Stadium.
